Finchley, located in the London Borough of Barnet, is a vibrant and historically rich suburb in North London, approximately seven miles from Charing Cross. The name "Finchley" likely derives from the Old English "Finch's clearing," first recorded in the early 13th century. In the medieval period, Finchley was predominantly woodland, with Finchley Common becoming notorious for highwaymen until the early 19th century.
